MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Two Marquette residents are in custody following an investigation into potential child abuse.
On July 15, the Marquette Police Department conducted a well-being check at UPHS – Marquette, where a four-month-old child had been brought in for decreased responsiveness. Upon arrival, officers were advised the female infant was barely responsive and was currently receiving medical treatment. That afternoon, she was flown to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Green Bay, Wisconsin, for further treatment.
The Marquette Police Department and Michigan Child Protective Services launched a joint investigation. A report was forwarded to the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office for review of charges. Charges were authorized, and on July 31, felony warrants were issued.
22-year-old Katrina Ayotte and 28-year-old Christopher Dunn are being charged with one count of first-degree child abuse. Ayotte and Dunn were arrested and lodged in the Marquette County Jail on August 3.
