The FAA has announced that further delays are in order between flights from Chicago O’Hare International Airport and Marquette Sawyer Regional Airport.
Originally in place until spring of 2026, the FAA’s departure restrictions have been extended until October of 2027.
The additional time placed on the order is due to construction projects currently ongoing at O’Hare Airport. Completion of construction is expected to be in the summer of 2027.
An increased traffic proposal was announced alongside the delay, a 15 percent increase to about 3000 departures a day.
“We’re really excited to have that join our offerings and be able to connect people even more,” said Airport Manager David Erhart. “Unfortunately, it just gives fewer options in the short term until we’re able to get them [United Airlines] here next year.”
The inaugural service from Chicago to Marquette is expected to begin when the FAA order officially expires.
