Gladstone Farmers Market season begins June 1

GLADSTONE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The City of Gladstone Farmers Market returns for its 2026 season on June 1.

“The market is going to be such a wonderful experience this year,” said Gladstone Downtown Ambassador Samantha Gaudino. “We have live music every week, food trucks every week, lots of really great events planned. It’s definitely worth coming and checking out. The vendor booths actually sold out within twelve hours this year, so everyone is very excited.”

This week, crews are preparing the Market Square on Delta Avenue for the 37 vendors that will be selling throughout the season. That number includes both new vendors and returning ones like Yellow Dog Sourdough Co, which is gearing up for its second season.

“It was awesome,” said Yellow Dog Sourdough Co. Owner Kim Plourde. “I had a huge turnout. A lot of regular customers, a lot of new customers, very positive feedback.”

Plourde says the market can be tremendously beneficial for entrepreneurs looking to reach new customers.

“It’s a way to put yourself out there,” she said. “It’s also good to see who else is out there, to get ideas from other people. Everybody’s super friendly, helpful. A lot of people have been doing this for years, so they have a good idea of what it takes to be successful down here.”

Plourde started making sourdough in her home just four years ago. Through community support and events like the Gladstone Farmers Market, Yellow Dog Sourdough Co. has become a local favorite.

“It’s been a big blessing for my business and my vision of what I want to do,” said Plourde. “There’s a lot of foot traffic, along with social media advertising, getting people down here to check it out.”

“While you’re visiting the market, feel free to ask the vendor about their story and about their product,” Gaudino said. “They are so passionate, and they love to have any opportunity to talk about their talent and their craft. It’s a great way for you to know who’s the creator behind the items you’re purchasing.”

Vendors will be offering everything from fresh produce and homemade treats to crafts and handmade decor. Between a lively Market Square, themed days throughout the season, and other local events, there will be something for everyone in Downtown Gladstone this summer.

“I think the Gladstone Farmers Market really has a sense of community, and that draws those vendors in to come back year after year,” Gaudino said. “We also just have a really great, authentic experience, and the connections that we form with our customers make them want to come back.”

“There’s a social district, so you can come down here, grab a drink, grab some food, listen to the music, visit with the community,” Plourde added. “It’s a good opportunity to check out local businesses, and it’s overall just positive vibes down here.”

The City of Gladstone Farmers Market will run through September. Click here for a full list of vendors and additional information. To learn more about Yellow Dog Sourdough Co., check out the business on Facebook or Instagram.
