NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The friends of the Negaunee Public Library held a reception today in honor of Al Sundine, who served the Negaunee Library and its patrons for 45 years.
Sundine, a retired Negaunee High School teacher, served on the Negaunee Public Library board from December 1980 to December 2025. Many of Sundine’s former students and library colleagues showed up to thank Sundine for his years of service to the community. Sundine believes that a library is the literary heart of any community,
“I think it’s invaluable for our community to have a vibrant, great library, and I’m so proud of everybody who works so hard to keep it going,” said Sundine.
With Sundine’s retirement, the Neganee Public Library now has a rare opening on its library board of directors.
