ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – In honor of National Voter Registration Day on Tuesday, Bay College held an event to get students informed ahead of the November election.
Students, staff, and community members were invited to a Political Campaign Fair and Voter Registration Drive. Attendees registered to vote with the Delta County Clerk, learned about early voting opportunities, and applied for absentee ballots if needed.
Several candidates running for the Delta County Board of Commissioners and the State House of Representatives met with students and provided information on their platforms. Students also spoke with members of the Delta County League of Women voters about the issues they will see on the ballot.
“Voting is important because it helps us lead our country the way we want it to go,” said sophomore Kelly Bergey. “What happens in this dictates our future, and it all has a big impact on your college life, even.”
The event also provided students with non-partisan election resources, as well as opportunities to join political groups on campus and in the community.
