ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – Escanaba’s Bonifas Arts Center is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a special event next weekend.
The Bonifas will host a Golden Gala on Saturday, June 1, at the House of Ludington. Attendees can enjoy food, live music, dancing, auctions, raffles, and other activities.
The Bonifas will also unveil its “50 Years in the Making” video, looking back on five decades of art and community.
“To think that 51 years ago, there wasn’t a building like this dedicated to the arts,” said Bonifas Gallery Director Kate Oman. “To be able to bring all of our artists and spectators under one roof is an amazing feat in and of itself, but to be doing it for 50 years—bringing theatre and the arts to the community—is amazing.”
The event is sponsored by Crawford Funeral Homes, Goodwill, and Upper Peninsula State Bank. Auction and raffle items are on display at Upper Peninsula State Bank, which is open on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Bidding is now open online, with items ranging from handmade art to an autographed Green Bay Packers football.
The Golden Gala costs $65 to attend, and tickets are available through Monday, May 27. To purchase tickets, click here. Click here to bid on auction items.
