MARQUETTE, Mich, (WZMQ) – This week was EMS appreciation week and EMS workers in Marquette, Ishpeming, and Escanaba were surprised this week with parties from the staff of UP Health System (UPHS), and able to reflect on the work they’ve been doing in the community.
From emergency response, to house calls, to medical transports, the UPHS EMS workers provide care throughout Marquette and Alger counties.
Paramedic Curtis Lesage said he likes being an EMS because it lets him get out and help the community.
“Something working in the hospital never really appealed to me,” said Lesage. “Being able to go out, nobody knows what kind of call they’re going to get sent on, it’s always different, it’s always exciting, and mostly just helping people it’s huge, to be able to go out and help members of your community.”
When you see EMS workers in your community make sure to thank them for all they do.
