IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Iron Mountain Figure Skating Club wowed crowds at Saturday’s charity hockey game hosted by Mountain View Ice Arena, showcasing their grace and skill on the ice. But their performance isn’t over yet – this weekend, they’re gearing up for their highly anticipated spring show.

To boost the club and keep it running smoothly, skaters are raising funds through a unique hog raffle. “We’re selling raffle tickets for 10 bucks each, and the winner will receive the meat from half a locally-sourced, hand-raised hog,” explains Lillian Mitchell, a 10-year-old student at Kingsford Middle School who’s excited to skate with the level 5 group.

Excitement is palpable as preparations for the 2-day spring show are in full swing. Maddie Marheine, age 7 from West Iron School District, shares her enthusiasm: “I’m in freestyle, Saturday Night Fever. It’s fun and exciting!”

Featuring performances from ages 4 to 16, the spring show promises a diverse array of routines. “There’s a bunch of groups that do different routines. It’s really fun and exciting,” adds Mitchell. The show has an entry fee of $10 for adults, $5 for students, and ages 5 and under get in free.

The hog raffle ends on Sunday, March 17th, with tickets available for purchase at the Mountain View Ice Arena every evening until then. Those interested can also contact Karen Marheine at h7747@yahoo.com to support the Iron Mountain Figure Skating Club.

For those eager to catch the spring performances, mark your calendars for March 16th and 17th. Showtimes include “A Night at the Oscars” on Saturday at 1 pm and 6 pm, and Sunday at 2 pm. The lineup features a captivating mix of routines, from “The Lion King” to “Saturday Night Fever,” promising entertainment for all.

Despite its name, the Iron Mountain Figure Skating Club welcomes students from various school districts, including Forest Park, Kingsford, and Bishop Baraga. For more information or to register a new skater, visit the club’s website and be a part of the magic on ice.
