LUCE COUNTY, Mich. – The driver of a minivan is dead following a crash with a truck in Luce County on Sunday, according to Michigan State Police.
It was reported on M-28 near County Rd. 444 in Lakefield Township around 9:50 a.m.
A 19-year-old man from Newberry was driving a Ford F-250 eastbound on M-28 when it crossed over the centerline and hit a Chrysler minivan head-on about a half-mile east of County Rd. 444, troopers said.
The driver of the minivan – Alice Nelson, 64, of Newberry – was pronounced dead at the scene, State Police said.
The driver of the truck underwent treatment at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and released, according to troopers.
There were no passengers in either vehicle.
State Police said alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
