MARINETTE, Wis. (WZMQ) – A Marinette woman is dead after police say she was found with a gunshot wound Thursday afternoon.
The City of Marinette Police Department said officers were called to the Trolley Station Apartments at 1529 Main St. around 4:05 p.m. for a report of a 32-year-old woman who was shot.
Officers began first aid until EMS arrived. The woman was taken to Aurora Medical Center-Bay Area where she died of her injuries.
A 31-year-old man fled the scene before police arrived. Around 4:25 p.m., officers found him at another home in Marinette and took him into custody without incident.
He was taken to Aurora Medical Center-Bay Area for treatment of minor injuries before being lodged in the Marinette County Jail pending potential charges.
The State of Wisconsin Crime Lab was called in for assistance at the crime scene.
The names of those involved are being withheld pending family notification.
