NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Negaunee Public Library has some leftover meals from this summer’s successful Gather 2 Grow program, provided by Feeding America West Michigan. During the month of November, while supplies last, the library is offering the shelf-stable leftover meals.
Distribution will be held from 3-5:00 p.m. on Fridays, while supplies last.
Meals will be available at no cost to all youth 18 and under and disabled adults up to the age of 26.
All meals are shelf-stable, nutritious, and allergy-safe.
Negaunee Public Library Director Jessica Holman says demand for the free meals has remained steady.
“Last year we offered these in November, and we’re doing it again this fall. And there is a definite need in our community for people to be able to have food for their kids,” said Holman.
Holman says the free meals are for anyone, regardless of where you live.
“There’s no residency requirement; we don’t care if you’re coming from Palmer, ishpeming, or Marquette. If your kids need food, we would like to help you out with that,” said Holman.
In addition to the regular meals, they also offer vegan options as well.
