ISHPEMING, Mich. (WZMQ) – A heartwarming tradition has made its way back to the Ishpeming Multi-purpose Senior Center.
As part of its summer reading program, the Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library held its beloved ‘chalk the walk’ event on Tuesday. Kids and parents spent the morning doodling and creating whatever they pleased along the main sidewalk at the senior center, as a random act of happiness for the seniors.
Children’s Librarian Heather Lander says a swarm of creative kids attend each year, while providing a connection to the parents as well.
“It’s just a fun event to look forward to, and it gives us a great opportunity to partner with the senior center,” she said. “It also alows a lot of families to come and see the senior center facilities.”
Afterwards, kids were treated to ice cream in the community room. For more details on the Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library summer reading program, visit here.
