ISHPEMING, Mich. (WZMQ) – Halloween came early to downtown Saturday afternoon, and the weather couldn’t have been better for it.
Hundreds of costumed kids and families packed main street for the downtown trunk or treat, hosted by Ishpeming Community Events. Decorated cars lined the streets as businesses, organizations, and community members handed out candy. Games were also strewn about the downtown area, such as toy axe-throwings and beanbag tossing…
Participant and business owner Bill Anderson, dressed as a hockey player, says the event exceeded his expectations. “This is our first year of doing the Trunk-or-Treat and I’m impressed with the turnout. I think they did a great job advertising and it gives everybody a chance to just come downtown,” says Anderson. “This weather has got to be the best I’ve ever seen. For Halloween we normally have kids freezing to death because it’s so cold or snowing, I think the day turned out perfect for them.”
A perfect Halloween afternoon in the U.P. – which, as any yooper knows, is never guaranteed.
