SKANDIA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZMQ) – A woman is dead following a Skandia Township truck and motorcycle crash Sunday afternoon.
At 1:40 p.m., the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a crash on US-41 and Carlshend Road. A pickup truck traveling westbound on M-94 collided at an intersection with a motorcycle traveling southbound on US-41.
The male driver of the motorcycle was taken to the hospital for serious, but not life-threatening, injuries. Although lifesaving measures were attempted, the female motorcycle passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The occupants of the pickup truck were not injured.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The names of those involved are not being released at this time.
The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Michigan State Police, DNR Law, UPHS EMS, Skandia Township Fire & EMS, Heavy Hooker Towing, Marquette Detailing Towing, and MDOT.
