SKANDIA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZMQ) – A woman is dead following a Skandia Township truck and motorcycle crash Sunday afternoon.
At 1:40 p.m., the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a crash on US-41 and Carlshend Road. A pickup truck traveling westbound on M-94 collided at an intersection with a motorcycle traveling southbound on US-41.
The male driver of the motorcycle was taken to the hospital for serious, but not life-threatening, injuries. Although lifesaving measures were attempted, the female motorcycle passenger—later identified as 59-year-old Lisa Smale of Christmas, Michigan—was pronounced dead at the scene. The occupants of the pickup truck were not injured.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Officials believe there may have been an additional witness to the crash. Anyone with information is asked to call the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office at (906) 225-8435.
