KINGSFORD, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Tuesday, police responded to a fatal structure fire in Kingsford.
At approximately 11:21 p.m., Kingsford Public Safety was dispatched to a reported electric bicycle explosion inside a house on Balsam Street. When they arrived, the house was on fire.
During the response, one victim was trapped inside the house. They were later pronounced dead. Their name is being withheld, pending police investigation. Two other occupants were able to escape. Several pets were found dead inside the house.
The Michigan State Police Fire Marshal will be assisting Kingsford Public Safety with the investigation. At the scene, Kingsford Public Safety was assisted by DCSO Dispatch, the Iron Mountain Fire Department, Integrity Car Ambulance, the DCSO Sheriff Department, the Iron Mountain Police Department, We Energies, and DTE.
