MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Upper Peninsula Health System has announced the launch of its Mental Health Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).
The group therapy program is designed for individuals transitioning from inpatient care or those requiring more support than what standard outpatient therapy offers.
It is intended for individuals facing disorders such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance abuse, and other psychological issues.
“When I heard this program was being introduced I was very relieved,” said Galina Taylor, the program manager of the IOP. “These are common in more populated areas, so the fact that we are bringing it to the U.P. is a huge benefit for our community.”
Patients must be referred by a physician before being assessed for eligibility prior to joining the program. Group therapy sessions are three times a week in a supportive and organized setting, offering care from a team of licensed therapists, social workers, and healthcare professionals.
The UPHS Intensive Outpatient Program is located at the Medical Office Building at 1400 W. Washington St., Marquette.
