ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – Escanaba’s Bonifas Arts Center is seeking entries for one of its longest-running exhibits.
The juried Northern Exposure exhibit will open for its 31st year on November 7 and will run through December 28. Submissions of all mediums will be judged on creativity, originality, and craftsmanship.
“We are welcoming all U.P. artists to try to get into the show,” said Gallery Director Kate Oman. “It’s a difficult show to get into but well worth it.”
Several prizes will be awarded, ranging from cash to an artist residency. Oman says Northern Exposure is a contemporary exhibit, showcasing what artists across the U.P. are making right now.
“There’s a lot of pieces that kind of have a through line,” she said. “You can tell the moods. We had one show that five different pieces had northern lights in them, and then we had another show that was all about landscapes. It’s really fascinating.”
The deadline to submit artwork for Northern Exposure XXXI is October 4. Artists can submit up to three pieces. The cost to enter is $30 for non-Bonifas members, $25 for Bonifas members, and $20 for students.
