NEWBERRY, Mich. (WZMQ) – A portion of M-28 in Chippewa County will be temporarily closed as the Michigan Department of Transportation rebuilds a railroad crossing.
MDOT will begin work Monday, Sept. 30 on a $250,000 project to rebuild the Wisconsin Central Railroad crossing and roadway approach on M-28 near Dafter. M-28 will be closed at the railroad crossing and detoured onto Soo Line Rd, 10 Mile Rd, and Mackinac Trail. A 10.5-foot lane width restriction will be in place on the detour route.
The project is expected to be complete by Nov. 1.
