ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Wednesday, two Delta County organizations partnered to remember those affected by the events of September 11, 2001.
Jim’s Dari-Kreme and UP Health System (UPHS) Hospice hosted their third annual 9/11 remembrance ceremony and ice cream social. Community members gathered by the flag outside Jim’s for a moment of silence in honor of those who died.
As an organization that deals with loss every day, UPHS Hospice believes it is important to remember the people left behind after a tragedy like 9/11.
“We really cherish memorializing those that we’ve lost in any capacity and never forgetting the sacrifice that they gave, as well as the impact for the families,” said UPHS Hospice Account Executive Rachel Camp. “We want to be a support for the families in grief and the journey that they’re on. Back in 2001, we promised to never forget. We still uphold that in 2024.”
Jim’s Dari-Kreme also gave away free ice cream in honor of America’s first responders and veterans.
