HANCOCK, Mich. (WZMQ) – A building in Hancock that used to belong to Finlandia University now has a new purpose.
Local organization Right Start U.P. is purchasing the first three floors of Hirvonen Hall, previously known as the old Hancock Central High School building. While there is still plenty of work to do, the organization has a lot of ideas, including child care centers, which they say there’s a big need for in the area.
They also have other ideas they’re hoping will come to fruition. “It would be an amazing thing if we could open up this building for organizations, different businesses in the wellness arena, to really make this a vibrant community downtown area,” said Sara Lahti, secretary for Right Start U.P.
Right Start U.P. is inviting anyone interested in renting the gym or the auditorium to reach out so they can give a tour.
