HANCOCK, Mich. (WZMQ) – UPDATE 3/27/24 2:22 p.m. : According to the Hancock Police Department the Male suspect in the incident is still receiving care at UPHS-Marquette.
The female victim in the case was released from the Hospital earlier this week.
Law enforcement has confirmed the victim and suspect in the case are Michigan Tech Students who were living together at the time of the incident.
Felony Charges are pending for the suspect.

The Hancock Police Department is investigating a “Violent Domestic Assault” that occurred over the weekend.
On Saturday, March 23, 2024, at approximately 2:40am, the Hancock Police Department was dispatched to the 300 block of Hancock Street by the Negaunee Regional Dispatch after receiving a 911 call of a person being assaulted.
Law Enforcement from the Hancock Police Department, Houghton Police Department, Houghton County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, MTU Public Safety, Mercy EMS and the Michigan State Police Forensic Lab out of Marquette, MI responded to the scene.
At the time of the incident responding officers located two individuals who were transported to UP Health System, Portage.
On Monday the Hancock Police Department said the victim in the assault has been released from Portage Health Systems. The second party involved in the case was transported to another hospital for further treatment.
There is a pending felony warrant for the second person involved in the investigation.
