SANDS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZMQ) – At approximately 9:30 am on Monday, July 3, the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a two vehicle crash at the Crossroads intersection in Sands Township.

An eastbound Toyota Prius on Co. Rd. 480, driven by a 70-year-old Oakland County resident, failed to stop at the four-way stop and struck a Chevy Silverado heading south on M-553.

The crash caused traffic delays for approximately 30 minutes.

The driver of the Chevy Silverado was taken to UPHS-Marquette for apparent minor injuries, and the passenger of the Toyota Prius was seen by EMS on scene. Both vehicles sustained significant damage requiring both vehicles to be towed from the scene.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Department was assisted on the scene by Sands Township EMS, Sands Township Fire Department, UPHS-Marquette EMS, and Goodwin’s Towing.
