Wintergreen Hill Gallery’s “Art Battle” for a cause

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Local artists come together in Marquette this Saturday to support the work of Superior Connections in helping the homeless, with an Art Battle fundraiser.

For the first time ever Wintergreen Hill Art Gallery host an “Art Battle for a Cause” with hopes of furthering the mission of Superior Connections This friendly and competitive battle will immerse guests in a creative vibrant atmosphere, with opportunities to bid on the works created throughout the evening.

Gallery Owner, Laura Songer gave us insight on what we can expect to see and said, “During the event they have 3 hours to create whatever it is that they want to create, no barriers.”

Creating works of art for the attendees to try and silently win the highest bidder taking one of these masterpieces home to enjoy.

A contestant herself, Songer could help to chuckle as she told us, “And the one that earns the most in their silent auction, the artist wins the battle and takes home a tacky trophy.”

And well-earned bragging rights for the top artist out of the 6 competing in the battle. Excited for the variety of talent competing in the event, Songer added, “I’ve got a watercolorist, an acrylic, an abstract and oil painting and you know pallets and brushes and you know everything imaginable going on at the same time.”

And to combat the possible spray from some of the more animated creators, Songer will line the area with plastic to help preserve her gallery while these artists put it all out there for all who attend to see and she said, “It’s going to be a crazy night, a lot of fun, it’s kind of a win win win, you’re going to have a great time and you are also going to help people in need directly from in your community.

This art battle features local artists with all ticket proceeds and donations going to benefit Superior Connections in Marquette.

Tickets are $25 each and more information about this event may be found by going here.
