Iron Mountain, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Valentine’s Day at Linnea & Kristine, calls were non-stop and the sweet, yet intense smell of roses flooded the quaint, whimsical boutique. Shopkeepers were up to their elbows trimming stems and arranging blossoms and greenery. Customers who planned in advance picked up their botanical beauties without a hitch.
Jessica Battan, the Flower Shop Manager at Linnea & Kristine in the city’s historic district, said that she had been inviting customers to pre-order to help sweethearts avoid a last-minute scramble. A week ago, the boutique put out a digital message of gratitude on social media to their customers who heeded that sound advice.
Many did not get that message, and the boutique was bombed with last-minute arrangement requests. The staff were many hands making light work, and their spirits were high on this day of the cupid. According to Battan, the shop was in the throes of Valentine’s Day since last week. They started taking orders at the beginning of the month.
“Today, we are not taking any more orders, because we have to fulfill the orders that already came in. We do have a waiting list, and we are encouraging people to come in and grab a gift, because we are flowers and gifts. We’ve got so many gifts that they can choose from, and then she’ll have that forever,” she commented.
Gifts were purchased, some coffee was consumed, and customers seemed understanding of the shopping process on this year’s Saint Valentine’s Day. Behind-the-scenes at Linnea & Kristine, the shop was in service of love in many forms.
“We do have people that order flowers for their mom. Lots of parents are ordering flowers for their children to have delivered over to the school. And lots of friends, galentines, and then friends who are even ordering for their friends’ kids. I’ve done a lot of household orders. It’s been great,” she added.
The shop expects Mothers’ Day to keep them on their toes, so planning ahead and pre-ordering is advised to customers this spring.
