MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Michigan Attorney General released a report in October of allegations of various abuse her office has either received or investigated with the Marquette Catholic Diocese.
There were 44 priests listed in the report, 38 of whom were employed or incardinated by the Marquette Catholic Diocese.
The report clarifies that what is in the report are allegations and that their inclusion in the report does not reflect a determination by the AG’s office that the allegations are credible or otherwise substantiated.
Bishop John Doerfler of the Marquette Catholic Diocese spoke with WZMQ’s Sarah Blakely about the report and the steps the church has taken in the last two decades to prevent and address sexual abuse– and abuse of any kind– within the church.
The interview that was broadcast during 19 News Insights on Wednesday, Nov. 9 was edited for time. The above clip is the full, unedited version.
