Loading up the bus for a blood drive, these donating day’s take hours of work. Blood is already “flying off the shelf” and can only last for 42 days so these donations make saving a life…that much easier.
“There’s the occasional forgetting something but usually, we’re always pretty prepared and we try to make the experience as positive as possible. We travel the entire UP, we supply 13 hospitals within the UP, we all take turns we’re able to pick which ones we want so we’re not just stuck on one we don’t wanna be on”, said Donor Technician Hollie Wallace. Wallace mentions that she and her coworkers spend the day before, preparing for these donation days.
Going forward the Upper Peninsula can expect another blood drive on October 20th at Westwood Highschool in Ishpeming. Click here for more dates and locations on where to find these drives.
