A A

Part of M-28 in Alger County will now be closed Wednesday, so the Michigan Air National Guard can hold aircraft exercises on the highway, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.

The exercises had originally been planned for Tuesday.

Military aircraft will touch down and conduct other operations on a 9,000-foot section of four-lane highway between Wetmore and Shingleton. M-28 will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Eastbound traffic will be detoured on H-58 to H-15 and back to M-28. The route will be reversed for westbound traffic.

There will not be any access to the landing zone during the closure. Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
