Maintenance on the Portage Lake Lift Bridge between Houghton and Hancock will require bridge lifts starting Wednesday, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT)

Cable greasing is scheduled for Wednesday night, June 29, and early Thursday morning, June 30. This work will require several bridge lifts of up to 30 minutes each. These lifts are scheduled to begin after 11 p.m. Wednesday and be completed by 6 a.m. Thursday.

The work is weather-dependent and may be adjusted as needed.

The closures will affect vehicle, pedestrian and bicycle traffic.
