MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Marquette’s 44th annual Freedom Festival kept Mattson Lower Harbor Park busy this weekend.
Tens of thousands reportedly made their ways to the park over the three day event. The celebrations aimed at being larger than ever this year, and according to the Marquette County Exchange Club and Double Trouble Entertainment, they did just that.
“We put our heads together and said we’re going to make this one bigger and better than before,” said Geno Angeli, president and co-chairman of the Exchange Club.
The festival featured over 25 hours of entertainment, with live music, bounce houses, and over a dozen vendors. One of these vendors, Babushka’s Polish Foods, comes up each year from Wisconsin, and says they saw a great amount of patriotism coming through for 250.
“The Exchange Club does a great job each year,” said Owner, Dominic Parisi. “There’s a lot more patriotism this year than other fourth of July celebrations, beautiful weather this weekend too, it’s all really cooperated.”
Funds from the annual festival go towards charitable organizations throughout Marquette County.
