MANISTIQUE, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Friday, the City of Manistique celebrated the start of a new season.
Limestone Financial Credit Union (FCU), Schoolcraft Tourism & Commerce, and the Manistique Merchants closed off South Cedar Street for their annual Summer Street Party.
“Winters are long in the U.P.,” Limestone FCU CEO Jennifer Watson said. “Really being able to get out and see people and enjoy some warm weather, it’s just kind of that quintessential small town. Lots of fun for the community, children, and families!”
The event featured live music, food vendors, and activities for kids. Adults could enjoy drinks within the downtown social district while checking out local shops and restaurants, many of which stayed open late for the party.
“It’s good because even if people aren’t shopping a lot, you get a lot of people in your store that might not be wandering through,” said Kathreen Francis, co-owner of The Mill and Paper Mill Books. “It’s kind of rare for us to all be open so late together, so it’s a great time to come in and just see what’s available. It’s super helpful and really useful to just get people moving around.”
The Manistique Merchants will partner with other organizations to host another Summer Street Party later in the season. Click here for details on that event and others coming to Downtown Manistique.
