CHIPPEWA COUNTY, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Michigan Department of Transportation is investing approximately $2.9 million for shoulder widening on M-28 from M-221 to I-75. The project also includes the resurfacing the carpool lot at the I-75 interchange.
Work is scheduled to begin on June 8 and end on August 21. Motorists should expect single-lane closures on M-28 from M-221 to I-75. An eleven-foot width restriction will be in place.
Based on economic modeling, the project is expected to directly and indirectly support 25 jobs, extend the lifespan of the roadway, and increase safety for motorists.
