CHASSELL, Mich. (WZMQ) - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is investing approximately $536,000 to repair the US-41 bridge over the Sturgeon River in Houghton County. Work includes expansion joint replacement, deck, substructure, railing patching, and crack sealing.
The project is tentatively scheduled to start on Monday, August 3, with an estimated end date of Friday, October 23. During that time, motorists will experience one lane of alternating traffic via temporary signals. A ten-foot lane width restriction will be in place in the work zone.
Based on economic modeling, this project is expected to directly and indirectly support five jobs. The work is designed to extend the service life of the bridge to maintain a safe roadway.
