MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The annual Marquette-Alger RESA plant sale is now open from Wednesday until Friday to raise money for the futures of its students.
Since as early as February, Marquette-Alger RESA students at its Transition Program have been hard at work to plan for the annual fundraiser. This week, their time has finally come to bring the sale to life, by offering dozens of garden starters, house plants, crafts and beverages to their local community.
And at the center of it all, students run most the operation themselves.
“I’ve been working at the cash register,” said student, Jordan St. Martin.
Funds from the sale go directly back into the classroom, to continue providing these students with more learning opportunities around the area. After over a decade of an outpour of support, the plant sale is always great way to close out the school year.
“We’ve seen the same people year after year, and we see new people as well,” said Kelsey Nordengren, Transition Supervisor. “Even if you’re not a plant person just come down and say hi, our students love seeing people from the community.”
The plant sale will continue Thursday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. at 414 W College Ave.
