GWINN, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter (UPAWS) is reminding the surrounding community that its annual holiday shop is back open.
From mid-November until Christmas, a large selection of clothing, ornaments, assorted squeaky toys and more, are set up in the UPAWS community room at its shelter on 815 South State Highway in Gwinn.
The money raised throughout the holidays will go towards supporting all of the animals at the shelter. Staff says the shop is a fun and easy way to give back this time of year.
“It’s a win-win. Buy something and help the animals, come and visit, we love it,” said Ann Brownell, community outreach and volunteer coordinator for UPAWS.
The supporting opportunities don’t stop with just the holiday shop.
“We have Giving Tuesday coming up after Thanksgiving, and that money helps our animals find a home,” said fundraising coordinator, Nicole Swenson.
