ISHPEMING, Mich. (WZMQ) – The St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry in Ishpeming is urgently reaching out to the community to help fill its shelves.
The pantry serves over 300 households throughout the West End, and that need spikes around Thanksgiving and Christmas.
This year however, assistance typically coming from Feeding America has reportedly been decreased. Canned and boxed goods, juices, snacks, paper towels and other items can be donated to the pantry, with no appointment needed.
Sherri Bertani, a secretary at St. Vincent De Paul, says even a little will go a long way.
“People that come to the pantry really need it, and we all see it,” she said. “Donations can be made at local churches, during our pantry hours, or just at the store.”
The pantry is open on Mondays from 10:00 a.m. to noon, and Wednesdays from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Questions can be directed to (906) 486-4237, ext. #1. Cash donations can also be made to St. Vincent De Paul Society, P.O. Box 2, Ishpeming, MI 49849.
