ISHPEMING, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Thursday, Asian Pacific Islanders of the surrounding area came together for a night of food, networking and culture sharing.
Around 50 people were in attendance, where guests enjoyed catering from Rice Paddy and a musical performance by the Aspen Ridge 5th grade music class. Throughout the night, people were able to share their different cultural experiences while living in the Upper Peninsula, and meet others from their community.
NMU’s Asian Student Union alongside the Michigan Asian Pacific American Affairs Commission (MAPAAC) were sponsors for the event. Commissioner Laure Capobianco said “After visiting NMU in October, we wanted to bring more to the Upper Peninsula.”
