Free admission for veterans announced for upcoming downtown Iron Mountain events

Iron Mountain, Mich. (WZMQ)  — Iron Mountain is gearing up for a summer and fall filled with vibrant events, and this year, veterans will be treated to a special offer. For the first time, free admission tickets will be available for veterans for both Italian Fest on August 10 and Oktoberfest, thanks to a collaboration between Multi-State Reality and First National Bank.

Kenzie Williamsen, the Iron Mountain DDA Event Coordinator, shared the exciting news: “Every single event we try and bring something new. We’ve had quite a few people in the past suggest we do something for the vets. Our event committee has been gathering every single month, and we’ve come up with an idea that we believe will work great. This year, we are providing at least 50 free admission tickets to vets for both Italian Fest and Oktoberfest.”

The initiative is still in its trial phase, with the possibility of distributing between 50 – 100 tickets. Williamsen explained, “We’re working on some logistics still. I have to talk to a couple more people to make sure this is finalized, but we’re happy that we’re able to bring free admissions and provide something to the vets that people have been asking us for.”

The distribution of these tickets is still being finalized, with options including the upcoming summer veterans’ picnic or the main downtown branch of First National Bank. “We’re still working out details,” Williamsen added. “We would like to try and partner with the veteran’s picnic. I am still working towards communicating these things with them, but there will be news once we have things finalized.”

In addition to the veterans’ ticket announcement, Iron Mountain’s summer and fall lineup includes a range of activities to enjoy. The Farmers Market will continue every Saturday until October 12, and the second half of the outdoor lunch season is still ongoing.

Looking ahead to October, Williamsen revealed plans for Oktoberfest’s 10th anniversary, hinting at special surprises: “We’re looking at a few fun extra things we want to do there that I don’t want to quite give away yet.” The Pumpkin Walk, now in its third year, is expected to draw a large crowd, with plans to expand the event space and include new activities.

Williamsen says Ladies Night, another popular event, will maintain its successful format from last year, featuring an after-party at Oddfellows and the popular ‘un-wine’ with wine event.

Finally, the Christmas Walk will bring festive cheer to downtown Iron Mountain, with plans to enhance the magical atmosphere experienced last year. “One thing I love that we did last year was bringing light-up wands and things for the kids, hats, and jingle bells. We want more things to give away during the parade, creating that magical feeling again this year,” Williamsen said.

With a packed schedule of events and special perks for veterans, Iron Mountain is set to offer a memorable experience for all residents and visitors in the upcoming seasons.
