IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WZMQ) – Over the weekend, a dramatic sequence of events unfolded as law enforcement engaged in a high-speed chase, culminating in a foot pursuit and the eventual arrest of a suspect.
The chase, initiated by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s office, started on US-2 near Pine Mountain Road. As the pursuit raced down Bass Lake Road and towards Lake Antoine Road via Industrial Drive, Iron Mountain PD joined forces to assist via Lake Antoine Rd while Dickinson County Sheriff’s office pursued north of the lake.
Near Grandview Drive, a lieutenant attempted to intercept the fleeing vehicle, but a collision with a deer thwarted the attempt. Subsequently, officers aided the lieutenant with traffic control while the squad car was towed.
Undeterred, the pursuit continued, eventually leading to Boundary Line Road, where the suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.
Dickinson County Sheriff’s office, supported by K-9 units and drones, launched an extensive search operation across the surrounding areas. Despite the suspect’s attempts to evade capture, law enforcement’s relentless efforts paid off when the individual was finally located and taken into custody.
While Dickinson County Sheriff’s office refrains from disclosing further details at this stage, pending the suspect’s arraignment in court, the swift and coordinated actions of law enforcement ensured the apprehension of the fleeing individual, safeguarding the community from potential harm.
