MUNISING, Mich. (WZMQ) – A local park service is gearing up for a week of celebrating the national parks. Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore will be waiving all the park fees on April 20th, this fee waiving also applies to all national parks across the nation for what has been known as National Park Week.
Right now the park is looking for summer volunteers to be working and staying in the Au Sable Light Station.
The Park needs two volunteers who will work 5 days a week on tours with guests or in the maritime museum.
“I think it’s a really cool park because it encompasses these amazing aspects of Great Lakes maritime history that you don’t get everywhere else. Just being on Lake Superior, feeling the power of the lake, and visiting these old coastguard stations like Au Sable,” commented Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore Public Information Officer Hannah Bradburn.
This application is open through the end of next week, click here for more information on volunteering with the National Park Service.
