ALGER COUNTY, Mich. (WZMQ) – A Marquette man is facing child sex crime charges after the Alger County Sheriff’s Office says he was caught soliciting sex from a teenage girl during an undercover operation.
The sheriff’s office says 49-year-old David Derouin was arrested February 23 on charges of child sexually abusive activity and using a computer in the commission of a crime.
An undercover operation involved an officer posing as a 15-year-old girl communicating with Derouin on social media. Derouin allegedly communicated intentions of engaging in sexual intercourse with the undercover office, who he thought was a teen girl. When Derouin arrived at the predetermined location, he was immediately arrested.
Derouin is currently lodged at the Alger County Jail awaiting a preliminary exam in 93rd District Court.
