MARQUETTE COUNTY, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Marquette County Board of Commissioners has voted 3-2 to place Margaret Brumm as the interim replacement for District seat 1, following the unexpected resignation of Karl Numinen.
Last week, it was announced to the public that the board would be taking applications for that district in a quick attempt to fill the seat. District 1 hopeful, Cody Mayer won a majority of the August primary against Numinen before his recent resignation.
Mayer responded on Facebook to last night’s decision stating he had applied for the position last October, before Numinen, the county’s own attorney, was voted into the seat. Also in the post, Mayer called the decision of appointing the write-in opponent, ‘an insult to the democratic process.’ The full post can be found here.
Brumm will serve in her interim position until December 31.
