ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – A Wilson man has been sentenced to jail time and probation for conspiracy to deliver narcotics.
On August 17, Colton Brunette admitted to knowingly assisting in the delivery of fentanyl in the fall of 2024. He entered a guilty plea to that offense, which is a felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
On Monday, he appeared in court again for sentencing. In accordance with legislative guidelines, Judge John Economopoulos sentenced Brunette to two years of probation and six months in jail.
“The recommendation by the Michigan Department of Corrections is one of probation, with an incarcerative penalty rolled in,” Economopoulos stated.
The judge noted that if Brunette were to break the conditions of his probation, he would be sentenced as though he had never been on probation.
This offense is unrelated to other charges that have been filed against Brunette, who was one of two men arrested during a traffic stop in February of 2025. That stop and arrest resulted in the seizure of more than 200 grams of cocaine, more than 100 grams of fentanyl, ecstasy, ketamine, and other drugs.
