Rosen leads Division Two in scoring
MARQUETTE, Mich. — NMU men’s soccer senior captain, Luca Rosen, has been selected as the GLIAC’s Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the conference today.
The London, England, native opened the weekend with an 85-minute performance against regional superpower Roosevelt, where he scored the lone goal for the ‘Cats in the 1-1 draw against the Lakers, securing a point against a team that hasn’t lost at home in 19 consecutive matches.
Rosen followed that up with a goal and an assist against St. Cloud State to round out the weekend, assisting on the eventual game-winning goal from James Carr before adding a tally of his own just 13 minutes later, emphatically becoming the program’s leader for single-season goals with 11 on the year.
“Another week, another Player of the Week award for Luca Rosen,” added head coach Alex Fatovic. Rosen now has two Player of the Week honors this season after amassing two in 2025, giving the striker four POTW honors in two seasons. “There is no surprise here after another huge road performance, but what makes this award special is how he scored his points: a goal off of a header, a left-footed cross for a game-winning assist, and a left-footed strike to seal a massive road win for the ‘Cats. He literally can do it all; well done, Luca!”
After the weekend, Rosen paces the entire DII landscape in goals (11), goals per game (1.22), points per game (2.78), and is second in total points (25) and shots on goal per game (2.67).
The Wildcats are at home this weekend, welcoming the Purdue Northwest Lions and Parkside Rangers to the NMU Soccer Field on Friday and Sunday.
