ISHPEMING, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Friday afternoon, members of the Marquette County Medical Care Facility held a Walk to End Alzheimer’s, after months of fundraising.
Since the spring, the facility has gathered over $300 dollars in local donations. Those have each been represented by a flower spinner placed around its grounds, where their colors signify a different personal connection to the disease. In total, the facility gathered around 50 spinners in support by its surrounding community.
“Everybody that you know has been affected in some way by Alzheimer’s,” said MCMCF Office Assistant, Julie Solka. “Some of our residents unfortunately have this disease, and we just wanted to bring awareness to the community that we’re here to help.”
Fundraising for the MCMCF’s fight against Alzheimer’s will continue through the end of December. More information can be found here.
