MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Inside the Peter White Public Library, it’s never too late to sign up for all of the available rentals and amenities it provides, especially as September is Library Card Sign-up month.
With a PWPL card, holders have exclusive access to study rooms, digital resources, and its Library of Things, where two useful non-traditional items can be checked out at a time.
“The library is for everybody, and we just want people to know that if they get a library card they get access to a little bit more,” said PWPL Communications Coordinator, Mackenzie Geary.
During back to school season, the PWPL is also collaborating with NMU to highlight the university’s upgraded library, and that library cards are available to community members and students at both locations.
“We’re super excited that NMU students are back in town and hopefully can learn about our space and use our study space, but also want community members to know they have access to the NMU library and can sign up for a library card there as well,” said Geary.
For residents within the city or the library’s eight corresponding townships including Chocolay, Ewing, Marquette, Skandia, Sands, Turin, Wells, and West Branch, all it takes is a drivers license with a proper address. Anyone else will need to pay a non-residential fee.
Throughout September, the library will continue a strong recruitment of card holders, with more information on it’s website. The PWPL also now has a phone app for a digital library card option.
