GLENBURN, Maine (WZMQ) – Do you believe in Bigfoot? Whether you are a true believer or a sceptic, a contest in northern Maine hopes to at least solve what the elusive creature sounds like in this very unique sasquatch calling contest.
The forests in northern Maine, not unlike the woods surrounding us here in the U.P., are full of legends…and no legend is more persistent, or more fun, than sasquatch. That’s why every year folks gather just north of Bangor, Maine, to give their interpretation of what the big guy might sound like.
For the second straight year, a local business has been inviting area Bigfoot enthusiasts to take part in their Sasquatch calling contest. And of course there are no rules, because we have no idea what the elusive creature actually sounds like.
“For us, it gives us more output into the community. I’ve just been a believer in Sasquatch for such a long time that I had to come out here. I had to show the world. This is not my call. This is what has been echoing through the woods for hundreds of thousands of years,” said Michael Vashon, Co-Founder, Maine Bigfoot Foundation.
The event, co-sponsored by the Maine Bigfoot Foundation, works towards Sasquatch species recognition by taking witness reports, conducting investigations, and hosting outings like these.
The winner gets $100, but more importantly, becomes fluent in Sasquatch.
