BARK RIVER, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Monday, several U.P. counties were under tornado watches or warnings. That evening, a storm touched down in Delta County, causing extensive damage to trees in a local campground.
At O.B. Fuller Park in Bark River, at least 60 trees completely fell to the ground due to high winds. Many trees lost branches, which fell across recreation areas and pathways.
According to the County Parks manager, no one was harmed during the storm. However, one camper’s trailer did become stuck under a tree. Campers and park staff worked together to cut the tree and remove it.
On Tuesday, crews began the long process of clearing fallen trees and branches from park roadways to create a safe pathway for campers and visitors. For updates on conditions at Delta County parks, follow the official Delta County Parks Facebook page.
