ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – A new event is adding some whimsy to Downtown Escanaba.
Tuesday was the inaugural Monthly Magical Market at the Escanaba Marketplace, located on the corner of Ludington Street and South 15th Street. Local artisans and crafters sold herbal products, crystals, handmade jewelry, tarot cards, folk art, and other unique offerings.
“You are going to find a lot of whimsical artwork, teas, candles, balms, salves,” said market coordinator Jacqueline Beach. “We will hopefully have some tarot card and oracle card readers, people who make jewelry with gemstones. It’s a whimsical, magical sort of group.”
Beach says the market is designed just for specialty vendors, providing a unique venue where they can reach new customers.
“We don’t always fit into one category,” she said. “Either farmer’s markets, some of us are at art fairs, craft fairs. We all work in the herbal, metaphysical space—things that are just a little bit off of the normal craft fair. All of the people here are making really original artwork and some amazing products. It’s worth your time, even in the heat!”
The Monthly Magical Market takes place on the second Tuesday of every month from July through October. The next one is scheduled for August 11. The market runs from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and each event will feature a food truck and live entertainment.
Anyone interested in becoming a vendor at the Monthly Magical Market is encouraged to email Beach at monthlymagicalmarket@gmail.com with photos of their products and setup. To see more of what’s in store at the market, follow the Monthly Magical Market on Facebook or Instagram.
