MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Before high winds and rain swept through the fourth edition of this summer’s Wednesday Night Farmers Market, one vendor was still able to detail its popular treats for sale.
Superior Pops is currently the only stop for frozen treats on the long list vendors at the market. The freezer-on-wheels offers homemade fruit popsicles crafted without food dyes in original flavors that fluctuate each week. These include blackberry lemonade, raspberry hibiscus, and cucumber lime.
Owner Hanna Taylor says in her two years at the market, the feedback from the community has been well met, especially on those hot summer days.
“Unless it’s raining we usually do pretty fine,” she said. “But people like them, they’re fun to make, it’s fun to come up with new flavors and try different fruit that are in season each week.”
This week’s market began with great weather, interrupted by close to 20 mph wind gusts and pouring rain. Vendors clutched to their tents, and visitors ran for their cars, before the sun made a return around 7:00 p.m. to revive the market for another hour. The beloved event will continue each Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. through 8:00 p.m. until August 26.
