MARQUETTE COUNTY, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Michigan Department of Transportation is investing approximately $3.6 million to replace a culvert on M-35 over Warner Creek north of Palmer.
Work includes replacing the existing structure with a concrete box culvert, asphalt rebuilding, and pavement markings. The work is tentatively set to start on July 20 and end in mid-August. Beginning July 27, the northbound and southbound lanes of M-35 will be closed at Warner Creek, with a posted detour on US-41 and M-553.
The detour is expected to last for two weeks. After it is listed, one lane of alternating traffic with a temporary signal will resume for about two weeks.
Based on economic modeling, the investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 30 jobs. The project is designed to expand the roadway’s lifespan and increase safety for motorists.
